In today’s episode, we’re diving deep into the relationship why goals end in burnout. Burnout is a hot topic these days, and it’s not just limited to the workplace. Even younger generations are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of preventing burnout and finding ways to cope with it in both work and  life. In this episode, we explore three key reasons why goals can lead to burnout.

First, we often create goals as a means to avoid pain, scarcity, or abandonment. Our childhood experiences and the influence of our surroundings shape our beliefs about ourselves and the world. If we witnessed our loved ones struggling with money, for example, we may set financial goals out of a fear of experiencing the same scarcity. Similarly, if we felt abandoned or like outsiders in the past, our goals may be driven by a need to avoid those feelings. However, when fear becomes the primary motivator, it can lead us down an unhealthy path towards burnout.

Secondly, societal conditioning plays a significant role in the goals we set. We are constantly bombarded with messages about what success should look like, especially in the online entrepreneurial space. It’s essential to question why we have certain goals. Are they truly aligned with our values and desires, or are we simply chasing societal expectations? By examining our motivations, we can avoid burnout caused by pursuing goals that aren’t genuinely ours.

Lastly, our goals must align with how we see ourselves. If we don’t believe deep down that we can achieve our goals, we may unknowingly self-sabotage. Imposter syndrome and false beliefs about our identity can hinder our progress and lead to burnout. It’s crucial to explore whether our goals are in harmony with our self-perception and make adjustments if necessary.

Do our goals have to end in burnout?

Throughout this episode, we highlight the importance of self-reflection and awareness when it comes to our goals. By understanding the underlying motivations, we can avoid burnout and find a sense of ease and flow in our journey. Isn’t that what we all want anyways?!? We have control whether or not our goals end in burnout. So take a moment to look over your own goals, identify any areas that need adjustment, and do the work to make your dreams a reality in the best way possible.
